During a visit to the affected communities on Monday, June 9, the governor saw firsthand the destruction left in the flood’s wake, homes flattened, families displaced, and lives upended.
Moved by the scale of the damage, Bago said, “The Niger State government is donating one billion naira to the victims of the flood disaster.
“All cash and materials donated by the federal government, kind-hearted individuals, government agencies, as well as donor agencies, will be used for the purpose they were intended.”
He offered his sympathies to those affected and urged residents to avoid settling near waterways to prevent future tragedies.
