The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 people, including 169 Indians, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian, crashed around 1:00 pm shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, which has since been shut down.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the crash as a heartbreaking tragedy and extended prayers to the victims’ families and all those affected.
“The tragedy of Air India reminds us, once again, of the fragility of life and the common bond of humanity that holds us together,” the statement read.
