Counterterrorism: NAF Urges US to Fast Track Delivery of Attack Helicopters

In a statement released on Sunday, June 15, by the Nigerian Air Force spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Abubakar made the call during a high-level Programme Management Review Meeting held from June 9 to 13 in San Diego, California.


The meeting brought together senior officials from the U.S. government and representatives of Bell Textron, the manufacturers of the helicopters, to assess progress on the procurement deal and adjust implementation timelines.


“We are deeply grateful to the United States Government for its enduring strategic partnership with Nigeria,” Abubakar said.


“The acquisition of the AH-1Z Viper helicopters will significantly enhance the Nigerian Air Force’s combat effectiveness, operational efficiency, and mission readiness.
