FIRS Extends Weekend Operations Nationwide to Boost Tax Collection

The directive, issued by FIRS Chairman Zacch Adedeji, mandates that tax offices remain open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays to assist taxpayers in meeting filing deadlines and enhance service delivery.

According to a statement released by Adedeji’s Special Adviser on Media, Dare Adekanmbi, the extended hours are part of the agency’s efforts to align its operations with a more customer-friendly approach and respond effectively to the rising demands of the tax season.

“With the end of the financial year fast approaching and June 30th being the statutory deadline for filing Company Income Tax returns, this move is designed to ease the process for taxpayers, maximise compliance, and boost revenue,” the statement read.

The extension comes on the heels of a notable surge in company income tax submissions as businesses rush to meet their obligations before the filing window closes.
