The political temperature in Kano has continued to rise as the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the spokesperson to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, to report to the Force Headquarters in Abuja over his alleged role in the controversial suspension of APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
In a letter dated May 23, 2025, the police chief directed the Kano State Government to release Dawakin-Tofa for questioning, noting that the embattled media aide is under investigation for criminal defamation, impersonation, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.
The invitation, signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Akin Fakorede, specifically asked Dawakin-Tofa to appear before SP Mojirode B. Obisiji at the Force Headquarters on May 29.
