Amid growing insecurity and recurring violence in Benue State, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently refer the situation to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for investigation and possible prosecution of perpetrators.
The group made the demand in a letter dated June 21, 2025, signed by its Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare.
According to SERAP, the escalating killings and displacement of residents in Benue and other parts of the country constitute serious violations of international humanitarian and human rights law, warranting the attention of the Hague-based court.
