President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday night intervened in the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, reconciling Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, and other lawmakers.
According to reports by Channels Television, the closed-door meeting took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja and was convened by President Tinubu to restore calm after months of political turmoil in the South-South state.
Papers News understands that the meeting also marks the first time Governor Fubara will be seen meeting with the President who suspended him, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and the Rivers Assembly while declaring the emergency rule in the state.
