Among the early dignitaries at the late president’s residence were former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and former Borno State governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff.
Amaechi, who holds the traditional title of Dan Amanar Daura—meaning Trusted Son of Daura—wore the full ceremonial regalia associated with the title, in a symbolic and solemn tribute to the late statesman. The title was conferred on him by the Daura Emirate in 2022 in recognition of his contributions to national development and his close ties with the region.
Senator Sheriff, a senior chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), joined other sympathisers and members of the Buhari family in offering condolences and awaiting the arrival of the former president’s remains from London.
