Security operatives on Monday intervened to prevent members of the Osugbo cult, a group of traditionalists, from disrupting the Muslim funeral rites of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona.
Papers News reports that the attempted intrusion occurred at the monarch’s private residence in Ijebu-Ode, where mourners had gathered for his final rites.
The cult members, who arrived in groups, were swiftly confronted by soldiers stationed at the premises, following rising tension among attendees.
