In a major step toward improving public health and food safety, the Federal Government has inaugurated a National Technical Working Group to spearhead the implementation of Front-of-Pack Labelling (FOPL) in Nigeria.
The initiative was launched at an inception workshop held in Abuja and is part of a broader effort to reduce the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) across the country.
The FOPL strategy, which aligns with the 2023 National Policy on Food Safety and Quality, aims to provide consumers with clear, easily understandable nutritional information on food packaging empowering them to make healthier dietary choices.
