The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has strongly criticised the treatment of Ms. Comfort Emmanson, the passenger involved in last Sunday’s Ibom Air incident, describing it as reckless and unlawful.
In a joint statement signed by its President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, and Secretary-General, Dr. Mobolaji Ojibara, the NBA condemned the lifetime flight ban imposed on her by Ibom Air and the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), calling the decision arbitrary, unjust, and a violation of both the rule of law and human dignity.
“The power to suspend or restrict a passenger’s right to fly rests with the appropriate statutory regulator, not private associations or airline operators acting unilaterally.
