U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers carried out the arrests, and those listed are expected to be returned to Nigeria once immigration proceedings are concluded. The DHS described the listed individuals as foreign nationals with established criminal records, apprehended as part of ongoing enforcement operations tied to directives issued under President Donald Trump’s administration, which has placed priority on removing non-citizens convicted of serious crimes.
The current figure marks a sharp escalation from an initial count of 79 Nigerians that had earlier been named for deportation — a number that climbed to 113 within just three weeks. The removals are part of a sweeping U.S. crackdown targeting both undocumented migrants and legal residents with criminal convictions.
