INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan revealed on Friday in Abuja that presidential and National Assembly polls will take place on February 20, 2027, while governorship and State Assembly elections are scheduled for March 6.
The commission acknowledged that certain elements of the activity schedule may require adjustment depending on when lawmakers approve the electoral legislation, though it has already submitted its proposals to the National Assembly.
Under previous leadership by Professor Mahmood Yakubu, INEC had established fixed general election dates extending four decades into the future—a strategic move designed to reduce voter uncertainty and improve planning for the commission and election stakeholders.
