The governor issued the stark warning on Thursday at Government House in Port Harcourt, moments after Dr. Dagogo Wokoma and Mr. Sunny Ewule were formally sworn in as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Chief of Staff respectively. The oath of office was administered by David Ihua-Maduenyi, Chief Registrar of the Rivers State High Court.
Addressing both appointees, Fubara made clear that their new roles were a call to serve — not a platform for personal ambition or political scheming. He demanded loyalty, discipline and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of Rivers people, and left little room for ambiguity when it came to the consequences of straying from those expectations.
Praising Dr. Wokoma as an accomplished academic and mathematician, Fubara expressed confidence in his ability to manage the demands of the SSG’s office, which he described as requiring thoroughness, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility. He noted that completing ongoing and inherited projects in ways that move the state forward remains the administration’s central focus.
