The Kwankwasiyya movement has criticised what it described as the “accelerated presidential assent” to controversial amendments to the Electoral Act, warning of grave implications for Nigeria’s democracy.
The group expressed concern that despite widespread public protests, sustained civil society advocacy and expert warnings, President Bola Tinubu went ahead to sign the amended bill into law.
