Airport authorities confirmed the incident, with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, saying emergency teams were immediately deployed to the scene. “Our firefighting team is currently responding and working to curtail the situation,” he said.
The affected terminal is part of the airport’s older infrastructure currently being upgraded to improve passenger experience. The full extent of damage had yet to be assessed at the time of reporting.
