The decoration followed Disu’s swearing-in and took place at approximately 3:00 p.m. during an expanded session attended by senior government and security officials. With the ceremony, the Lagos-born officer becomes Nigeria’s 23rd Inspector-General of Police at the age of 59.
Disu arrived at the Presidential Villa around 2:50 p.m. for both the ceremony and a brief meeting with the President. His appointment, which was approved by Tinubu on Tuesday, came on the heels of the resignation of his predecessor, Kayode Egbetokun, whose departure was confirmed the same day.
Prior to his elevation, Disu served as Assistant Inspector-General of Police at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Alagbon, Lagos. His career has spanned key postings including Commissioner of Police in both Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as the leadership of the Intelligence Response Team, through which he oversaw several high-profile operations. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
