Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said it would be difficult for any opposition candidate to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the FCT, citing ongoing infrastructure transformation across the nation’s capital.
Mr Wike made the assertion while addressing journalists after inspecting four key projects in satellite towns within the FCT.
He highlighted what he described as a deliberate shift from city-centred development to inclusive expansion in previously underserved communities.
According to him, the scale and spread of ongoing projects are already improving daily life for residents by enhancing access, mobility and economic opportunities.
“It is very difficult for anybody to win an election in the FCT against Mr President,” Mr Wike said.
The minister expressed confidence that the impact of the administration’s interventions would translate into electoral support, noting that political dynamics in the FCT are increasingly shaped by tangible improvements in infrastructure and service delivery.
He explained that President Tinubu had directed against over-concentration of development in Abuja’s city centre, insisting that satellite communities must equally benefit from governance.
“We were clearly told that there shouldn’t be an over-concentration of development in the city. We must go to the satellite towns. These communities are part of Abuja, and their lives must also change,” he said.
