2027: Three ex-governors inaugurate committee for APC’s victory

The three former governors of Abia State on Saturday inaugurated a technical committee charged with the responsibility of securing a comprehensive win for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.

It comprised former legislators and appointees from the administrations of Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji, and Okezie Ikpeazu.

It was inaugurated in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, on Saturday.

Inaugurating the team on behalf of the former governors, Kalu, the representative of Abia North Senatorial District, disclosed that the committee was constituted in January and tasked with creating a blueprint for the party and the state.

He said that plans were being perfected for a strategic meeting between the committee and the former governors to finalise plans for the upcoming elections.

He said: “It’s a technical committee to work on modalities on how we are going to set up larger committees that will work for the victory of our party.

“We are showing people our commitment for our party to win from the President (Bola Tinubu) to the House of Assembly.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the committee is chaired by Dr. A. C. B. Agbazuere, a former Chief of Staff to Ikpeazu.

The members include all those who served during the previous administrations from 1999 to 2023.

Meanwhile, Kalu’s younger brother, Mascot Kalu, affirmed his readiness to contest the 2027 governorship poll on the platform of the APC.

In a speech at the event, Mascot urged the committee to show enough commitment for the success of the party in 2027.

He promised to develop the human and material resources that abound in the state, if given the opportunity to serve.
