Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan are among the top dignitaries expected in Anambra State for the second-term inauguration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Papers News recalls that Soludo was re-elected on November 8, 2025, on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), securing a second mandate from the people of Anambra State.
According to The PUNCH, a source at the Government House, Awka, confirmed the development on Tuesday, noting that the ceremony would hold at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square.
The Vice President is expected to represent President Bola Tinubu at the event.
The inauguration is set to attract a wide array of prominent Nigerians, including elder statesmen such as former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku.
Traditional rulers from all 179 communities in Anambra State are also billed to attend, alongside monarchs from other parts of the country.
The Anambra State capital has taken on a festive atmosphere ahead of the inauguration, as residents and visitors troop into Awka in anticipation of the event.
Papers News understands that streets across the city have been enlivened with activities celebrating Soludo, who has pledged to consolidate on his administration’s achievements and intensify efforts to tackle insecurity in the state.
Earlier, on Sunday, Soludo and his deputy marked the end of their first tenure with an interdenominational thanksgiving service held at the International Convention Centre.
At the service, the governor expressed gratitude to God and the people of the state for their support over the past four years.
He pledged to deliver more democratic dividends in his second term and assured residents of inclusive governance.
Soludo said his administration would carry along all residents, “regardless of religion, ethnicity or political affiliation.”
The ruling APGA has mobilised its members from all 326 political wards across the state to attend the inauguration ceremony in large numbers.
Meanwhile, security has been significantly reinforced across Anambra State ahead of the high-profile event.
Security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Federal Road Safety Corps, have deployed personnel to strategic locations to ensure a hitch-free ceremony.
