Former members of the Borno State Executive Council who served between 2011 and 2019 have described recent bomb attacks in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, as a cowardly response to recent onslaughts on their enclaves by the Nigerian Armed Forces.
This was contained in a sympathy and solidarity letter to the Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum.
The letter was signed by the Convener of the former executive members forum, Ambassador Baba Ahmad Jidda.
The members noted that the incidents were sad and condemnable.
Jidda said the former executive council members viewed the resurgence of terrorist activities as a serious drawback to the governor’s gains on restoring peace and rehabilitating citizens.
He said they are in solidarity with the governor and urged him not to despair in the face of these developments because the insurgents are already in disarray, and their actions are mere displays of courage in the face of imminent defeat.
While calling on citizens to rally round Governor Zulum, the forum maintained that posterity shall record him on the positive side of history.
They said as former colleagues, they remain committed to assisting the governor on every front.
