Within hours of the attack, a man identified as Udeme Monday Stephen took to his X account (@stevetom788) to claim responsibility and issue chilling warnings of further violence. In his posts, Stephen taunted Obi, saying the former presidential candidate was fortunate to have survived the Benin attack — but would not be so lucky a second time.
A senior security source told our correspondent that DSS operatives launched an immediate covert investigation upon seeing the online threats, deploying forensic tools to trace the poster’s identity and location.
