The Federal Government has announced that Thursday, March 19th, and Friday, March 20th, 2026, will be public holidays in observance of Eid-el-Fitr, the celebration marking the end of Ramadan.
The announcement was communicated through a statement by Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Interior, on behalf of Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Minister Tunji-Ojo extended warm congratulations to the Muslim community on completing the holy month of Ramadan, urging them to carry forward its core values among them love, generosity, tolerance, and a spirit of sacrifice — beyond the fasting season.
He also called on all Nigerians to use the holiday as an opportunity to pray for peace, national unity, and the country’s continued development. The Minister further encouraged citizens to celebrate with restraint and to show compassion toward the less fortunate during the festive period.
