Federal Government Orders Abuja Secretariat Workers to Stay Home Ahead of APC Convention
The Federal Government has directed civil servants stationed at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja to work remotely on Friday, March 27, 2026, as part of measures to manage activities surrounding the national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The directive, which was communicated through an official notice, is aimed at reducing congestion, ensuring public safety, and facilitating smooth logistics during the high-profile political gathering expected to attract party leaders, delegates, and supporters from across the country.
Sources within the civil service indicated that the decision was taken to ease vehicular movement and enhance security in and around key government facilities, particularly within the central area of the Federal Capital Territory. The Federal Secretariat, being in close proximity to major event locations, is expected to experience increased traffic and restricted access during the convention.
Affected workers have been instructed to carry out their duties from home and remain accessible through official communication channels. Essential personnel and staff involved in critical operations, however, may still be required to report physically, depending on the nature of their assignments.
The APC national convention is a significant political event that typically involves large-scale coordination, including security deployments and traffic management plans. Authorities have urged residents of Abuja to cooperate with temporary measures put in place and to plan their movements accordingly.
