The Federal Government has introduced a new consumer credit scheme, “Fly Now, Pay Later,” to make domestic air travel more accessible to Nigerians.
The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) announced the initiative on its X handle on Tuesday, stating that it allows eligible customers to book local flights and repay the cost over time through structured financing.
The corporation said the scheme is designed to remove the upfront cost barrier that often delays travel plans.
It said: “Through this initiative, eligible customers can book domestic flights today and repay the cost over time through structured financing, removing the upfront barrier that often delays important trips.”
CREDICORP added that the solution is being implemented in partnership with MyVisaro and Alert Microfinance Bank as part of efforts to expand access to consumer credit.
To access the scheme, interested individuals are required to visit visaro.ng and book flights to destinations within Nigeria.
The corporation said: “At CREDICORP, we remain committed to expanding responsible consumer credit and enabling Nigerians live better now, including flying locally. Fly now. Pay later. Opportunity shouldn’t wait.”
According to the agency, the initiative aligns with its broader mandate to promote financial inclusion and improve access to essential services through innovative credit solutions.
The scheme comes amid rising domestic airfares, with one-way tickets on some routes increasing by about 150 per cent during the 2025 Yuletide period to over N300,000.
Airlines have linked the surge in ticket prices to rising aviation fuel costs, foreign exchange constraints and other operational expenses.
