Fresh Tension in Ibadan as Sunday Igboho Accused of Disrupting Real Estate Firms, Claims Royal Support
According to reports, Igboho was recently seen at some construction sites in Ibadan accompanied by a convoy of vehicles and supporters. Witnesses alleged that operations at affected sites were temporarily halted, with workers reportedly fleeing over fears of confrontation. One of the incidents was said to have occurred on Monday at the premises of a prominent property development company, where activities were disrupted amid heated exchanges.
The situation is particularly striking given that only weeks earlier, Igboho had publicly expressed appreciation to prominent traditional rulers, including the Olubadan, for their roles in efforts surrounding his freedom and return to Nigeria. His recent actions have therefore drawn mixed reactions, with some supporters defending him while critics question the implications for investor confidence in the state.
The affected real estate firm has reportedly engaged the services of Afe Babalola & Co. to seek legal redress. Petitions are also said to have been forwarded to the Inspector-General of Police, the Oyo State Government, the National Assembly, and the Presidency, alleging threats and calling for intervention to prevent further disruptions.
