I would have been better off if my father didn’t become governor — Alao-Akala’s daughter

Olamide, the daughter of a late former Governor of Oyo State, Bashorun Adebayo Alao-Akala, has stated that she would probably be in a better place than where is today if her father had not become governor.

She said this in a video that she shot following the controversy trailing the sharing of the property that her father left behind.

Olamide said: “A lot of people would sit down in their corner listening to me speaking, scrolling through my Instagram page and say oh, she is a daughter of a former governor of Oyo State. 

“She has opportunities.

“It will be easy for her. 

“And I tell people, your background, where you come from does not determine your future. 

“It determines it in some way, but it does not mean that you can change your story. 

“I have seen people come from nothing and become somebody. 

“And I would tell you that if my father was not the ex-governor of Oyo State, I’ll probably be in a better place than I am today. 

“Yes. 

“Because I feel like I wasted a lot of time being comfortable and taking riskier decisions.

“I would be far off from where I am today.”
