Iran Launches Over 200 Ballistic Missiles at Israel Following Death of Supreme Leader Khamenei

At least 21 people were injured after a ballistic missile struck a residential building in Tel Aviv, according to emergency services. Israeli defence officials confirmed that most of the incoming projectiles were intercepted by the country’s air defence systems, limiting casualties and infrastructure damage.

The crisis has sent shockwaves through global markets. Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz — through which nearly a fifth of the world’s daily oil supply passes — has thrown energy markets into turmoil. Regional aviation has been severely disrupted, with missile impacts reported near Dubai International Airport and Kuwait International Airport, prompting widespread flight suspensions across the Gulf.

The United States has responded by deploying over 40 Air Force aircraft to the region to reinforce coalition defences and maintain air superiority over the Persian Gulf. Saudi Arabia and the UAE have signalled coordination with Washington as fears of a broader regional war continue to mount.
