A yet-to-be-confirmed number of Nigerian soldiers have been killed following an attack by militants of the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, known as the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), on a military base in Borno State.
Military sources who spoke with Sahara Reporters said the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday when insurgents launched an offensive on a Forward Base located at Banki junction along the Bama–Gwoza Road.
