The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has concluded recovery operations after a gas tanker explosion at Ologuro Bus Stop in Sangotedo and reopened the road.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyitolu, on Saturday.
Oke-Osanyitolu said the articulated tanker was recovered using a heavy-duty crane and moved on a low-bed truck to its Cappa operational base.
He added that the tipper truck involved in the collision was also recovered and positioned on a roadside culvert to prevent obstruction of vehicular movement.
He said the tanker’s contents were completely burnt, while remnants were bagged and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further action.
He stated that the road had been fully reopened for public use following the successful clearance of the accident scene.
Oke-Osanyintolu said the operation involved collaboration with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Ambulance Services, and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.
He listed others as the National Emergency Management Agency, Federal Road Safety Corps, and Nigeria Police Force.
He said that all personnel and equipment deployed for the operation had returned safely to base after completing the exercise.
He appreciated public cooperation and reiterated the agency’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State.
