Midnight Raid Sparks Fear in EKSU Hostels as Students Flee Armed Attack

Panic gripped students of Ekiti State University (EKSU) on Monday night after suspected gunmen invaded off-campus hostels in Ado-Ekiti, forcing many residents to run for safety.
According to reports, the armed assailants stormed several hostels, moving from building to building while robbing students of valuables such as mobile phones, laptops, and cash.
A student, identified via the 𝕏 handle @yapperaholicc, described the incident as both frightening and recurrent. In an early Tuesday post, the student raised alarm over the midnight attack, noting that it occurred in the Phase 2 area of the university community at a time when many were preparing for examinations.
The student also alleged that such attacks had persisted for several days, heightening fear among residents and disrupting academic activities.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Ekiti State Police Command, Abutu Sunday, disclosed that one suspect had been arrested and is currently under investigation. He added that security measures have been reinforced to prevent a recurrence.
As of the time of this report, no fatalities had been confirmed, while details regarding the total value of stolen items remain unclear.
Meanwhile, students have urged the state government and security agencies to step up patrols and strengthen security around the university environment, especially as examinations approach.
