In a statement on Monday, the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) confirmed that preparations are underway for the introduction and rollout of Lenacapavir (LEN) as a pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) option. The initiative aligns with Nigeria’s goal to accelerate progress toward controlling the HIV epidemic.
“The Government of Nigeria is advancing preparations for the introduction and rollout of Lenacapavir as Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis. This effort demonstrates our commitment to strengthen HIV prevention and move closer to epidemic control,” the statement said.
NACA added that the rollout will be phased, beginning in priority states, supported by trained personnel, community engagement strategies, and regulatory approvals. NAFDAC has already granted approval for Lenacapavir.
