Obasanjo Dismisses Death Rumours, Says He’s Fit and Strong at 89
Obasanjo spoke on Wednesday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, at a public colloquium organised to mark his 89th birthday. The gathering, themed “Burden and Blessing of Leadership: Reflections from Global Africa to the World,” drew scholars, politicians, and dignitaries for a broad conversation on leadership and governance across the continent.

Using the popular Nigerian expression “I dey kampe” meaning he is strong and very much alive — Obasanjo said God still has work for him to do on this earth, and warned that those peddling falsehood would ultimately answer for it.
