Oyo Governor Announces ₦10,000 Salary Boost for State Workers Amid Fuel Price Surge
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved a ₦10,000 salary increment for all state workers to help offset the effects of rising fuel costs.
The governor made the announcement on Monday during a programme in Ibadan, the state capital, describing the additional payment as petrol and transportation support for workers facing economic challenges.
“I’m pleased to inform that starting from April, all workers in Oyo State, including those in local governments, will receive an extra ₦10,000 monthly for at least the first three months as petrol and transport support. This is a flat rate for everyone and may be extended,” Makinde said.
He added that while the initiative will initially run for three months, its continuation will depend on prevailing economic conditions. The governor also suggested that residents outside the state workforce might benefit from the programme.
“We will manage it properly to ensure it is inclusive, even for those not employed by the Oyo State government,” he stated.
Makinde highlighted that as his administration nears its end, he is committed to ensuring the sustainability of policies that positively impact citizens.
