Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has appointed Chiamaka Nnake as Secretary to the State Government (SSG), making her the first woman to occupy the position in the state.
Papers News reports that the appointment was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Christian Aburime.
Nnake, 39, hails from Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state.
Before her appointment, Nnake served as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, where she was credited with driving effective resource mobilisation and allocation for socio-economic development.
The statement read, “As Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, she led the effective mobilisation, planning, and allocation of state resources to drive socio-economic development.”
She also served as Chairman of Solution Fun City Limited and held leadership roles in key state agencies, including the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, the Internal Revenue Service Board, and the Small Business Agency.
Nnake has also been recognised for her role as the state’s Reform Champion for Ease of Doing Business and as focal point for Social Investment Programmes.
According to the statement, she has continued to champion reforms and inclusive growth initiatives.
She currently serves as Nigeria Chairperson for the Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity Programme.
Prior to joining public service, Nnake worked as a senior strategy consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers Nigeria, where she led over 30 client engagements across sectors including financial services, government, and agriculture.
She was awarded the organisation’s CEO Award in 2021 for outstanding performance.
Nnake holds a Master of Business Administration from Lagos Business School and graduated with first-class honours in Accounting from Benson Idahosa University.
She is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of its national advisory committee.
She has also completed Level One of the Chartered Financial Analyst Programme and the Implementing Public Policy Programme at Harvard Kennedy School.
She is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Policy.
Earlier in her career, she worked as a business analyst at IHS Towers and as an equity research analyst at Meristem Securities Limited.
She also contributed to the development of the Anambra Vision 2070 long-term development blueprint.
Nnake is married with three children.
Papers News reports that Governor Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, was sworn in for a second term in office on March 17.
