President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday left Abuja for London in the United Kingdom ahead of an official state visit.
He travelled alongside the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, as part of preparations for engagements with the British monarchy.
According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Nigerian leader and his wife will be hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle from March 18 to March 19.
The visit marks the first state visit by a Nigerian president to the UK in 37 years, and also makes Tinubu the first Nigerian leader to be received by the British monarch at Windsor Castle.
The trip is aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, with discussions expected to focus on immigration, trade, investment, and cultural cooperation.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after concluding the visit.
