The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that the inauguration ceremony would take place at the Council meeting. He also confirmed that Disu will not appear before the Senate for screening, departing from past practice.
Disu’s appointment was ratified on Monday by the Nigeria Police Council during a session chaired by President Tinubu at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa. The closed-door meeting was convened to affirm his nomination following the resignation of former IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
The Police Council meeting was attended by key government officials, including Vice President Kashim Shettima; Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume; National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Police Affairs Ibrahim Gaidam; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike; state governors; and other statutory members.
