A former President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was not among those who persecuted him while he was the head of the Red Chamber.
The Eagle Online recalls that the former two-term governor of Kwara State was the head of the Senate between 2015 and 2019.
Saraki was docked as the president of the Senate before the Code of Conduct Tribunal for allegations of corruption and forging the Senate rule book.
Speaking on Thursday on a Channels Television programme: “Politics Today,” he said President Tinubu was not a part of the then Executive that initiated his trial as the oresident of the Senate.
This followed his position that the South, through Tinubu, should be allowed to complete its eights years in the saddle in the presidency.
When then asked why he would support the former governor of Lagos State who allegedly supported his then persecutors, he responded: “That is not fair on President Bola Tinubu because those you know, in those days, he did not have that say.
“I was doing what I felt was the interest of the country and for doing those things, I was now persecuted.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was not part those who decided to take the decision for me to be taken to Code of Conduct Tribunal or Offa robbery or forgery of Senate’s Rule Book.
“That was the Executive part of the government.”
