UK raises visa, citizenship fees, Nigerians to pay more + Full List

The United Kingdom government will increase fees for visas, residency and citizenship applications from April 8, 2026, affecting Nigerians and other foreign nationals seeking entry, study, work or settlement.

The revised fee schedule, published by the UK Home Office, shows increases across most visa categories, including visit, student, work and settlement applications.

Short-term visit visas will rise from £127 to £135, while student visas will increase from £524 to £558.

Applications for indefinite leave to remain will cost £3,226, up from £3,029, while naturalisation as a British citizen will rise to £1,709 from £1,605.

However, the fee for registering a child as a British citizen will drop from £1,214 to £1,000.

The changes come as Nigeria remains one of the largest sources of UK visa applicants.
