Why TikTok loudmouth must be sanctioned for racist attack on Ademola Lookman, by Enyinnaya Appolos

What exactly did Nigerians just watch? Is this what some people now call “content creation”? Can such reckless abuse be dismissed as football banter? Or should it be called what it truly is: Racism, hate speech, and an embarrassing display of ignorance?

A TikTok content creator, Obi Nduka Kelvin, popularly known as Kombo, has sparked outrage after releasing a disturbing video in which he reportedly declared that Ademola Lookman is “not a Nigerian.”

Let that sink in.

A Nigerian footballer who proudly represents the country on the international stage, who wears the green and white with honour, and who has consistently delivered outstanding performances for the Nigeria national football team, is suddenly being told by a social media agitator that he is not Nigerian.

This is not banter.

This is not satire.

This is not content.

This is vile, divisive, and deeply unpatriotic.

It is both shocking and heartbreaking that a supposed Nigerian would spew such venom against a fellow Nigerian who has done absolutely nothing to deserve such hostility, except perhaps refusing to indulge a content creator’s social-media theatrics.

Lookman is one of the finest footballers Nigeria has produced in recent years. His performances for club and country have brought pride to millions of Nigerians. He continues to represent the nation with professionalism, humility, and dedication.

Yet, a social media loudmouth believes he can casually strip him of his identity because of personal dislike or online clout-chasing.

That is not only disgraceful, it is dangerous.

If a foreign content creator had released such a video attacking a Nigerian player in this manner, the outrage would have been immediate and universal. Nigerians would rightly condemn it as racist and dehumanising.

So why should the same behaviour be tolerated simply because the offender is Nigerian?

This is why the Nigeria Football Federation and relevant authorities must immediately condemn this reckless outburst. Silence in moments like this only emboldens those who thrive on controversy and division.

Furthermore, brands, sponsors, and businesses associated with this individual must take a firm stand. Anyone supporting or amplifying this brand of toxic “content” under the guise of sponsorship should reconsider immediately.

A platform that spreads insults, division, and attacks on Nigerian athletes is not a responsible channel of communication.

Until Port Harcourt-based Obi Nduka Kelvin, alias Kombo, issues a clear and unreserved apology to Lookman and to Nigerians for this shameful remark, brands should distance themselves from his platform. Even those following him across social media platforms should consider unfollowing him.

Nigeria’s athletes deserve respect, not ridicule from those seeking cheap online relevance. This episode should serve as a reminder that freedom of expression does not mean freedom to demean, divide, or deny fellow citizens their identity.

What Nigerians witnessed in that video was not humour. It was not banter. It was an ugly display of ignorance that must be firmly rejected by every right-thinking Nigerian.
