The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has scheduled May 12 for the inauguration of its newly elected state executive committees, signaling its determination to continue party activities despite ongoing legal hurdles.
The decision comes amid a dispute involving the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which on April 1 removed the party’s leadership from its official records. If upheld by the courts, the move could invalidate actions taken by the party.
However, in a statement issued on Sunday, ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi confirmed that the party would proceed with inaugurating the executives elected during state congresses held on Saturday.
The party praised the smooth conduct of the congresses, describing them as a demonstration of its commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and adherence to the rule of law.
ADC also called on the newly elected officials to stay aligned with the leadership of its National Chairman, David Mark, and to remain focused on strengthening the party’s presence nationwide.
According to the statement, party members and stakeholders were commended for participating responsibly in the electoral process, while the incoming executives were urged to uphold unity, discipline, and dedication to the party’s vision.
The ADC reaffirmed its confidence in the new state leaders, expressing optimism about expanding its structures and deepening engagement with Nigerians. It added that stakeholders would be duly informed if any changes are made to the planned inauguration date.
