Adeboye Hails Gbenga Daniel at 70, Describes Him as Model Leader and True Omoluwabi

Former Ogun State governor and senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, marked his 70th birthday on Monday with a grand thanksgiving service that drew prominent figures from across Nigeria’s political, traditional and religious circles.

The event, held at the Abraham Tabernacle in Sagamu, was filled with tributes celebrating Daniel’s leadership, legacy and continued relevance in national affairs.

Delivering a keynote message, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, described Daniel as an “exceptional politician” and a true reflection of the Yoruba ideal of Omoluwabi—a person of integrity and honour.

Adeboye, who has lived in Ogun State for decades, said Daniel stands out among leaders he has encountered, including past military administrators. He commended the former governor for maintaining integrity in governance and for his consistent support for the Church.

According to him, Daniel was known for keeping his promises and delivering on commitments without delay. He stressed that such qualities are rare in public office and worthy of emulation.

The cleric also noted that his presence at the event, despite a tight schedule, underscored the deep respect he has for the celebrant. Drawing from biblical teachings, he urged Nigerians to live responsibly and remain conscious of their accountability before God.

The ceremony attracted several high-profile dignitaries, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo (represented by Bola Obasanjo), Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, former Ogun State governor Ibikunle Amosun, as well as prominent traditional rulers and political stakeholders.

Also speaking, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by his deputy, praised Daniel’s contributions to the state’s development. He noted that the foundations laid during Daniel’s administration continue to drive growth and progress in Ogun State.

In his remarks, Daniel expressed gratitude for the outpouring of goodwill, attributing his long life and achievements to divine grace. He said the large turnout of supporters was a humbling reminder that his years of public service have made meaningful impact.

Reaffirming his commitment to national development, the former governor pledged to continue serving the people. He also expressed support for President Bola Tinubu, voicing confidence in his leadership and ongoing reforms.

Daniel described Nigeria’s current challenges as part of a necessary process toward national progress, urging citizens to remain supportive and hopeful.
