Bala Mohammed Accuses Tinubu, APC of Intimidation, Warns Opposition May “Resist” Pressure

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has accused President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to intimidate opposition figures across the country.

Speaking during a press briefing, Mohammed alleged that federal authorities are deploying state institutions such as the courts and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to target individuals who are not aligned with the APC.

He cautioned that the opposition may be forced to take a firm stand if such actions persist, stressing that he would not be silenced or coerced into joining the ruling party.

“The APC-led government believes it can use the courts and the EFCC against those outside its fold. If this continues, we will not remain quiet. I will not allow anyone to label me a criminal simply because I refuse to join their party,” he said.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to speaking out against what he described as abuse of power and maintained that he would not defect to the APC.

Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, claimed that Mohammed had previously approached him to request a postponement of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention.

Wike, speaking during his monthly media briefing in Abuja, said the Bauchi governor sought more time for reconciliation within the party, but the request was declined.

According to Wike, despite internal disagreements, the PDP still has the potential to remain competitive ahead of the 2027 general elections. He added that reconciliation within the party remains possible, noting that political differences can be resolved with sincerity and dialogue.
