Businesses must replace faulty goods, compensate – LASCOPA

The General Manager, Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), Afolabi Solebo, has said that businesses have a responsibility to promptly replace faulty goods or provide adequate compensation.

According to Solebo, the replacement or compensation is in line with consumer protection laws.

The General Manager made this known in a statement by Rufai Adesile, Assistant Director, Public Affairs of LASCOPA, on Saturday.

He emphasised the importance of ensuring safe products to gain the confidence of consumers.

Solebo said that consumer confidence would be built on availability of safe and high-quality products that would meet established standards and regulatory requirements.

He encouraged consumers to report grievances through appropriate channels

Solebo gave assurance of the agency’s continued commitment to protecting consumer rights and ensuring fair treatment in the marketplace.

“Consumers have the right to seek redress when sold defective, substandard or unsafe products,” he said.
