Pastor Alex Ogundipe of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Daki-Biyu District, Kubwa, Abuja says the cross where Jesus Christ was crucified at Calvary is a symbol of great exchange where death is exchanged for life.
Ogundipe, the senior pastor of the church, stated this on Sunday while delivering a sermon titled: “The Redemptive Power of Mercy.”
This was in commemoration of the Easter celebration.
The cleric, who said the death of Christ on the cross was to atone for man’s sins, said it also gave man the second chance after Adam’s misdeed.
He said Jesus died because of the sins of man and rose from the dead to reconnect man back to God.
“In those days, once you see a cross, it means somebody must have been sentenced to death.
“So, the cross was a symbol of shame, sorrow and death.
“It is a place of suffering and reproach. This was what it was before Jesus Christ.
“But Jesus redefined the cross and it now became a place of exchange.
‘The enmity between man and God ended at the cross and man is redeemed unto salvation,” he said.
“He died so that we can be saved,” he said.
Ogundipe, therefore, said that his resurrection vindicates Christ that he was sinless, his sacrifice was acceptable, he was holy, righteous and that he had completed all the processes for man.
“Jesus’ resurrection means every requirement for salvation and redemption is complete,” he added.
He urged Christians to run away from greed, lust, anger and all forms of bitterness.
Besides, the clergyman said to be a partaker of Christ glory, one must believe the gospel, live a life of submission and obedience, be his witness, pay the price of discipleship, watch, pray and be expecting his second coming.
