Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has taken a swipe at opposition parties, describing them as politically irrelevant and incapable of winning elections in the state.
Speaking to a large crowd of supporters at the Government House in Kano after his return, Mr Yusuf dismissed the prospects of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, insisting it lacks the strength to secure electoral victory in Kano.
The governor also mocked the Kwankwasiyya movement and its “Falle Daya” (one term) slogan directed at his administration, declaring that his political camp would secure a second term.
“There was only one term in the NNPP, and we will go for a second term in the APC. As for the ADC that they moved to, it will never have even a single term,” he said.
Mr Yusuf further cautioned residents against what he described as the “euphoria” surrounding opposition parties, including the ADC and the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, labeling them as groups that have failed to make meaningful political impact.
“ADC, NNPP and any other parties are part of jokers who could not make any meaningful political gains despite their groupings,” he added.
Highlighting his administration’s achievements, the governor urged residents to grant him another mandate, promising expanded efforts in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and potable water supply.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as efforts to stabilise the economy and deliver infrastructure across the country.
“Mr President has been doing his best for this country. He has improved the economy and is working to ensure that infrastructure is provided across the zones within the available resources,” Mr Yusuf said.
The governor further declared Kano’s support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
“We in Kano State are fully behind Mr President and will support his re-election in 2027 by the grace of Allah,” he added.
Mr Yusuf reiterated that the All Progressives Congress, APC, remains the dominant political platform capable of winning elections at both state and national levels.
