‘I’m Receiving Highest level Of Abuse’ – Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has claimed that no politician had been abused like him.

Papers News Wike said this on Friday during a chat with some journalists in Abuja.

Wike said he is the most abused politician after President Bola Tinubu.

According to Wike, his priority is to concentrate on his ministerial job and ignore the abuse.

He said, “I think no politician has received more abuse than I have. I think, after the President, I am the one receiving the highest level of abuse.

“To collect tax is not an easy thing. How many Nigerians like to pay tax? And they want everything free of charge for them. They want road. They want light. It is not easy.

“Whatever the Federal Government gets, they give us (FCTA) 1%. So if Federal Government gets a trillion, for example, they will give us 1% which is N10 billion. N10 billion cannot carry salaries. It’s not easy.”

Meanwhile, Wike, has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will take part in the 2027 general elections despite doubts about its future.

Papers News reports that he spoke on Friday during a media session, dismissing claims that the party may fade out before the next election.

He made it clear that the PDP will appear on the ballot and still hopes to perform well in some areas of the country.

Wike explained that even though the party has not produced a president since 2015, it has remained active and continues to operate across different levels of government.

He said the main concern should be keeping the party strong and active, rather than worrying only about winning the presidency.

He advised party members to focus more on building strength at the state and local levels.

According to him, political success does not depend only on the presidential seat, as control at lower levels also plays a key role in staying relevant.
