Minister of Power speaks on resignation reports

The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has reacted to reports in the media space that he has resigned to seek elective position in the 2027 elections.

The Eagle Online recalls that President Bola Tinubu gave his appointees a deadline of March 31, 2026 to resign if interested in the 2027 elections.

No fewer than three ministers in the administration of President Tinubu had resigned to pursue their political ambitions in 2027.

However, speaking on behalf of his boss, Adelabu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bolaji Tunji, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Tuesday that the report was fake and misleading.

Tunji urged practitioners in the fourth estate of the realm to uphold professionalism by fact-checking the source of information before spreading such a story.

The report quoted the minister as saying his decision to resign his appointment was to focus on his governorship ambition in Oyo State come 2027.
