Nollywood Mourns as Veteran Actor Davis Offor Passes Away

The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran Nollywood actor Davis Offor, widely recognised for his role as Clarus in the classic sitcom The New Masquerade.

The sad news was announced on Tuesday by fellow actor Tony Akposheri, who paid an emotional tribute to Offor via his Facebook page. Akposheri, who starred alongside him as Zacky in the beloved series, expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

Reflecting on their relationship, Akposheri revealed that they had recently spent time together and that Offor was in high spirits, full of hope and optimism. He described the late actor as more than just a colleague, noting that he was a dear friend and brother whose warmth, humour, and vibrant presence left lasting impressions on everyone around him.

He lamented the shock of Offor’s sudden passing, admitting it was difficult to accept the loss of someone he had only recently spoken with. In his tribute, Akposheri recalled how they welcomed the New Year together, sharing laughter, memories, and aspirations—unaware that it would be their last moments together.

Davis Offor rose to fame through his memorable portrayal of the boastful and comedic Clarus in The New Masquerade, a sitcom that became a cultural staple in Nigerian television and endeared him to generations of viewers. His death marks the end of an era and leaves a significant void in the entertainment industry.
