The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed a total of 3,206 personnel across Lagos and Delta states to ensure safety and protect critical infrastructure during the Easter celebrations.
Out of the total figure, 2,250 officers have been stationed at worship centres, recreational facilities, and other key locations across Lagos, while 956 personnel have been deployed throughout Delta State to maintain order and prevent disruptions.
Lagos State Commandant, Adedotun Keshinro, said the move is aimed at strengthening security and ensuring the protection of critical national assets across the state. He reaffirmed the command’s readiness to safeguard lives and infrastructure in all sectors of the economy.
Speaking at the command headquarters in Alausa, Keshinro disclosed that operational strategies have been intensified to tackle criminal activities, including vandalism, especially before, during, and after the festive period. He added that the command would collaborate with other security agencies to enhance effectiveness.
He urged officers to remain vigilant and committed to securing strategic assets such as oil pipelines, public facilities, religious centres, parks, and other sensitive locations. The command also plans to utilise intelligence gathering, intensified patrols, and specialised units, including the Special Female Squad and Quick Intervention Squad, to boost security operations.
Keshinro congratulated Christians on the Easter celebration and encouraged them to embrace values such as love, sacrifice, and compassion, which define the season.
In Delta, Commandant Igbo Chinedu said the deployment forms part of a rapid response strategy targeting known hotspots and flashpoints across the state.
He noted that personnel have been tasked with securing public spaces and infrastructure, particularly areas prone to increased criminal activity during festive periods. Chinedu also stressed the need for professionalism and proactive policing, urging officers to combine intelligence with swift action.
Highlighting the importance of protecting national assets—especially oil installations frequently targeted by vandals in the state—he expressed confidence in the command’s preparedness for a peaceful Easter.
He further assured residents that the NSCDC would work closely with other security agencies to maintain order, urging the public to celebrate without fear as security operatives have been strategically positioned across identified hotspots.
